Charges of heresy brought against 11 prominent Presbyterian clergymen here who signed the Auburn Affirmation in 1924 have not been dropped. Dr. Gordon H. Clark, philosophy instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, declared last night.

In a sermon at Central North Broad Presbyterian Church, Broad and Green sts., Dr. Clark said the Presbytery of Philadelphia acted illegally when it dismissed the charges November 5 at a turbulent meeting.

“When these illegalities begin to sink into the brains of fair-minded men,” he declared, you’ll find the heresy charges still have a great deal of life in them.”

He charged an illegal roll-call vote defeated the motion to turn the charges over to a committee. Many of the members left after a rising vote, he said, thinking the matter was settled. Then, he charged, opponents of Rev. H. McAllister Griffiths, who filed the charges, voted to return them to him.
